งานนี้คงเป็นการยืนยันร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์แล้วว่าพิธีการจะมีขึ้นแน่นอน เมื่อล่าสุดมีการประกาศรายชื่อผู้เข้าชิงรางวัลในแต่ละสาขาออกมาเป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว

ซึ่งปรากฎว่า Ariana Grande และ Lady Gaga คือสองศิลปินที่มีชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัลในปีนี้มากที่สุดคนละ 9 สาขา โดยเฉพาะเพลงที่ทั้งคู่ทำงานร่วมกันอย่าง Rain On Me มีชื่อเข้าชิงทั้งในสาขา Video Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects และ Best Choreography

ในขณะที่ Billie Eilish และ The Weeknd ตามห่างๆ ด้วยการมีชื่อเข้าชิงคนละ 6 สาขาด้วยกัน

ส่วนสุดยอดวงเค-ป๊อปแห่งยุค BTS มีชื่อเข้าชิงในปีนี้ด้วยกัน 3 สาขาได้แก่ Best K-Pop, Best Pop และ Best Choreography จากเพลง On

สำหรับงานแจกรางวัลในปีนี้ได้รับไฟเขียวจากทางผู้ว่าการรัฐนิวยอร์คให้สามารถจัดได้ตามกำหนดในวันที่ 30 สิงหาคม นี้ ที่ Barclays Center โดยมีเงื่อนไขว่า จะต้องจัดขึ้นแบบ จำกัด หรือไม่ก็ ไม่มีผู้เข้าร่วมงาน
